Nicholas Hayter "Land, Sea & Light"

from the 30th March to the 20th April 2014

Nicholas Hayter is a self taught Napier artist who enjoys a representational-impressionist style of oil painting. Art has always been a part of Nicholas' life from an early age. Having an artistic family and being surrounded by paintings growing up, it was a natural progression to draw and paint.

The New Zealand landscape is a constant source of inspiration for Nicholas, whether it's painting the colourful boats in the harbour or capturing the sunset of a nearby beach on canvas, his broad, painterly style and "no fuss" approach to his renditions, intends to connect the viewer to the beauty and grandeur of the familiar New Zealand landscape.

Nicholas is a previous winner of the Paraparaumu Rotary art award for best oil painting and continues to exhibit in galleries and group shows throughout the North Island. His paintings have also featured in many New Zealand calendars.

His woks have sold nationally and internationally to places such as Canada, USA, Australia and the UK.
