Chris Dunn

I am the eldest child of the eldest child of the eldest child of the eldest child. I am a fifth generation New Zealander with migrant roots back to Scotland. I have a huge social conscience and link myself closely with the land and seasons.

My interests in ceramics started many years ago as a child at a church fair where a woman was making pots on a kick wheel. In my adult life I joined a club in the central north island. A bunch of happy energetic women who arranged many workshops with leading New Zealand potters. I have continued in my learning in that vein with attending groups and summers schools intermittently over the years. My knowledge was extended with a summer in south of France where many fabulous museums and galleries were explored.  As New Zealand didn't have a ceramic history it has been fascinating to examine the evolution of ceramics. The internet has recently been a source of record for ancient and interesting vessels.
